Rebrand Q&A

Food Bank of Wyoming's rebrand announcement

Food Bank of Wyoming, formerly known as Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies, is excited to debut its new name, mission statement, logo, and brand. Read below for a Q&A with Director, Tony O. Woodell, on this exciting new chapter for the nonprofit.

What sparked this rebranding effort?

Two years ago, we asked ourselves, “Who are we today, and how can we best serve Wyoming?” And so, we set out to create an identity that reflects who we truly are. Also, from a practical standpoint, our website was extremely outdated with major functionality issues, we needed more visible signage, and our trucks were overdue for updates amongst other essential upgrades we needed to keep our operations functioning smoothly. Through these efforts, we hope to better connect, better engage, and ultimately better serve the people of Wyoming.

What went into developing Food Bank of Wyoming’s brand?

At Food Bank of Wyoming, we believe knowledge is power. So, we talked to those who share in our mission of nourishing people facing hunger: donors, volunteers, Hunger Relief Partners, staff, board members, community members, and more. We listened deeply, absorbed their feedback, and collectively developed our vision of who we are and who we aspire to be. We are excited to intentionally move forward with our rebrand effort while taking into account everything we learned during these discussions.

Why did you decide to change the name?

We believe that our new name – Food Bank of Wyoming – is a better reflection of our community-based organization. We recognize that each area of Wyoming is unique, with different needs. Our food distribution encompasses the entire state and deserves a Wyoming-centric name.

We are proud to be part of this rugged and beautiful state. From Evanston to Gillette and Ranchester to Cheyenne, we go wherever hunger rises in Wyoming regardless of the distances or obstacles in our path. And every dollar raised in Wyoming, stays in Wyoming to provide food to our neighbors in need. Our organization is powered by support from people like you, and the name change better reflects our work in the state we are serving.

What does Food Bank of Wyoming’s new mission statement mean?

Food Bank of Wyoming ignites the power of community to nourish people facing hunger.

Nourish people facing hunger: We aim to provide nourishment with nutrient rich, culturally-relevant food as an increasing priority. We believe in using people-first language – people facing hunger rather than defining those we serve by their current circumstances.

Ignite: Our new mission statement is fiery and bold. So are we!

Power of community: Food Bank of Wyoming is a catalyst for people-powered generosity – inspiring gifts from donors and volunteers. And we bring like-minded organizations together to collectively answer the challenge of hunger. Together, we are powerful.

What does the new logo represent?

Since 1985, we’ve put the power of community to work for our neighbors in need. Food Bank of Wyoming is the Wyoming Distribution Center of Food Bank of the Rockies, which is a proud member of the Feeding America network. Everything we do is fueled by the support of our community and donors, and 96 cents of every dollar goes directly to distribution.
