Now more than ever, community support is essential in ensuring Wyoming neighbors are safe, loved, and fed. Food Bank of Wyoming is wholeheartedly committed to bringing people together through food and volunteerism. During their upcoming “Share the Love” volunteer event, Food Bank of Wyoming invites families, friends, and community members to strengthen relationships and feed neighbors.

“Share the Love” will be held at the Food Bank’s Wyoming Volunteer Center on Monday, February 16, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This family-friendly volunteer event offers the opportunity to spread kindness, give back to the community, and make memories with loved ones.

Natrona County School District will be out of session on February 16 in observance of Presidents’ Day, offering ample opportunity for friends and families to spend time sharing the love with Food Bank of Wyoming. Volunteers will enjoy a fun and impactful afternoon packing mobile pantry boxes bound for sites across the state to help feed neighbors in need.

“Come show some love beyond cards and candy,” says Community Relations Coordinator Jessica Osborn. “All volunteer opportunities help strengthen our community by ensuring neighbors have access to nutritious food. At the same time, it offers personal growth by fostering empathy, gratitude, and a sense of purpose. Volunteers gain a deeper understanding of local needs while knowing their time and effort directly contribute to reducing hunger across Wyoming.”

Along with making a difference in the lives of neighbors facing food insecurity, volunteering brings people closer by giving them a shared purpose. Working together toward a common goal builds trust and communication, which in turn helps friends, couples, and families strengthen their relationships. It creates opportunities to support one another, learn new perspectives, and make lasting memories through a shared sense of impact.

Take frequent Food Bank of Wyoming volunteers, Bob and Joan Fogle. When asked how volunteering impacts their relationship, Joan said, “It gives us an opportunity to work together on something. We really enjoy it! Not a lot of other places to volunteer have that option.”

While laughing, Bob replied, “Most days we work really well together!”

Though strengthening relationships through volunteering isn’t limited to couples. Many friends visit Food Bank of Wyoming to spend time together in a meaningful way. For example, friends Kathy and Marianne met while volunteering, and now it is a staple in their friendship.

“Marianne and I met while pulling orders for Food bank of Wyoming,” says Kathy. “I love working with Marianne, and we’ve come to rely on each other during volunteer shifts. We’ve also had the opportunity to meet some of her grandchildren in Buffalo to volunteer at a mobile pantry! Food Bank of Wyoming gave us this opportunity to meet new people.”

Whether you want to show love to your community, spend quality time with a loved one, or meet a new friend, Food Bank of Wyoming invites you to join the “Share the Love” volunteer event on February 16 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Sign up today!
