Choices Wyoming Families Should Not Have to Make

Feed your family this week or heat your home? Stock up on nonperishable groceries ahead of a winter storm or pay rent? Reprioritize your entire monthly budget because your fixed income won’t cover the costs?

Thousands of people across Wyoming face these impossible choices during the cold winter months.

But when times get tough, Food Bank of Wyoming is there to help. Ten percent of children and adults in Wyoming are facing food insecurity. In a state that spans nearly 98,000 square miles, that’s a lot of ground to cover!

Connor, a second grader and one of our Food for Kids recipients, picks up his Totes of Hope™ bag each Friday afternoon before catching the bus to go home. These bags contain upwards of seven pounds of nourishing food and recipes, and are designed to help provide nutrition to families.

“He really enjoys the snacks he gets out of it,” says Connor’s mom, Tiffany, adding that they often use all the food in the tote to help feed the whole family throughout the weekend.

Last year, Food Bank of Wyoming distributed enough food to provide more than 8 million meals for people in our community facing hunger. But numbers don’t tell the whole story. Every day we hear how our collective efforts have made a difference in the lives of our neighbors across the state — near and far.

You can join our efforts and help make a difference today. With your support, we can continue to nourish our neighbors in Wyoming experiencing food insecurity.
